WHEN & WHERE YOU'LL WORK:

Hybrid: This role will be a mix of in-office work and remote work. This position is expected to be in office 5 days a week to start, for training and onboarding with future potential to transition to a more flexible working arrangement based upon performance.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:



  • Manage pipeline and lead follow-ups with increasing autonomy and sales discipline.
  • Tailor sales messaging based on emotional and clinical context to deepen engagement.
  • Explain pump benefits based on patient lifestyle and therapy type (T1D/T2D).
  • Navigate insurance complexity, including co-pays, DME vs. pharmacy options.
  • Handle common objections regarding therapy transition, device anxiety, or affordability.
  • Proactively engage prescribers to confirm documentation and guide them through Rx process
  • Use CRM effectively with follow-up sequences and personalized messaging.
  • Reflect on own performance and course-correct based on metric trends.
  • Track patient cohorts and refine messaging by type (e.g., active adults, caregivers).
  • Mentor Specialist 1s in areas like messaging, empathy, and pipeline tactics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently manage patient concerns, identify workflow blockers, and deliver personalized, persuasive conversations.
  • Leverage playbooks and CRM tools to prioritize leads based on coverage, conversion likelihood, and patient readiness.

    • Describe pump benefits with clinical or lifestyle relevance for T1D/T2D customers.
    • Clarify co-pay responsibilities and payment routes with confidence.
    • Identify and remove barriers to sale using strategic pipeline management.
    • Adjust tone and format of outreach depending on customer profile and stage.
    • Initiate contact with prescriber offices to ensure timely and complete documentation.
    • Address routine objections (e.g., cost, fear, device management).
    • Create follow-up sequences in CRM and monitor pipeline progress.
    • Use personal performance data to adjust tactics for better conversion.
    • Organize daily activities based on lead status and patient potential using team-defined workflow guides




      WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

      1. Knowledge, skills & abilities:



      • Strong knowledge of diabetes, insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring, and unmet needs in diabetes care.
      • Expertise in durable medical equipment policies, health insurance providers, and reimbursement processes related to diabetes supplies.
      • Exceptional phone-based communication skills to resolve issues, answer questions, and persuade customers per department protocols.
      • Proven ability to apply advanced sales techniques and product knowledge to alleviate customer concerns and drive sales.
      • Skilled at mentoring peers, promoting team cooperation, and contributing to team success.
      • Adept at identifying process improvements and advocating for change to enhance business performance.
      • Advanced computer competency, including MS Office, internet navigation, and CRM systems; experience with call-handling phone systems preferred.
      • Effective call-handling skills with a track record of excellent customer service based on measurable metrics.
      • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.


      2. Minimum certifications/educational level:



      • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.


      3. Minimum experience:



      • 3 years recent experience interfacing with customers in a sales support role including a combination of:




        • Experience in field sales or tele-sales experience in medical device, technology, or similar field.
        • Experience being accountable for sales quotas in a challenging, fast paced, changing environment.
        • Experience in patient diabetes education.




      • Experience documenting calls by typing on a keyboard while speaking to a customer on the phone.
      • Previous experience drafting letters of medical necessity.
      • Knowledge of diabetes is required.

        COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

        The base pay for this position is $24.47 - $27.70 per hour plus eligibility for quarterly incentive rewards with a target earning potential of $50,897.60 - $72,616.00 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package and a robust benefits package.
