Description
This Configuration and Data Manager (CMDM) role will support product lifecycle management of a broad range of systems, through all lifecycle phases, from creation through disposal. This role supports engineering, production and sustainment of hardware, software, firmware, COTS/FOSS, development, test, production and fielded configuration baselines. This role applies defined processes and tools to produce product data that meets technical, regulatory and company requirements. This role works to maintain configuration control while meeting quality management system standards, supports document and data deliverable management, identifies and troubleshoots anomalies, demonstrates and promotes analytical thinking, and communicates potentially complex processes, both verbal and written. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update configuration documentation and records.
- Monitor and control changes to product configurations, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely configuration updates.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of configuration management processes and procedures.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of configuration-related issues.
- Maintain and develop, as necessary, skills associated with program configuration management tools and systems.
- Review contracts and Customer Data Requirement List (CDRL) or Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL) to support project planning requirements.
- Establish and maintain the data deliverable/receivable schedule.
- Review work product for compliance to contract/company marking and formatting requirements.
- Execute data deliverable/receivable processes.
- Generate and report CMDM status and performance metrics.
- Apply Microsoft Word skills to develop program templates and forms.
- Execute/support configuration audits and reviews to ensure adherence to policy, plans and applicable standards.
Required Skills:
- At least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to apply Configuration Management concepts and processes based on common functional best practices, models and guidance (EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, ISO, ITIL and CMMI).
- Experience defining and applying attributes/meta data for parts, assemblies/end items (product structure), drawings and supporting documentation.
- Experience with bill of material (BOM) development and management.
- Competent in the utilization of at least one advanced PDM tool supporting hardware configuration management.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines, production and product sustainment teams, as well as external suppliers.
- Creativity in problem solving, crisp attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with DOD contracts, including DD Form 1423 and Data Item Descriptions.
- Experience using PTC Windchill.
- Configuration Management certification, such as NDIA and/or CMII.
- Experience/training related to managing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and export controlled (ITAR/EAR) work products.
- Experience applying records management policies and procedures.
- Practical experience with Agile development methods.
- Experience using IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG).
- Strong SharePoint skills that could contribute to library/list design, advanced metadata constructs, and workflows.
- Power Automate experience
Education Requirements:
- At least 8 years of relevant experience
- B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math or equivalent degree is preferred. Other educational backgrounds may be considered based on years of directly applicable experience.
