Job Details

Effectively assists the TJU community in complying with sponsor requirements regarding post award management of sponsored programs. This is accomplished by having a thorough understanding of federal grant policies (as well as state, local and non-profit agencies), keeping abreast of changes to these regulations and attending ongoing training in the field of research administration, and following the policies and procedures set forth by the Office of Research Support Services.

Knows policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties.Uses sound judgment and is award of potential hazards before taking action. Promptly reports errors/events or situations of actual or potential harm. Understands emergency procedures and can demonstrate appropriate response.

Job Description

Establishes Sponsored Programs accounts. This entails the careful review of all terms and conditions of each award notice, contract or clinical trial agreement, as well as the review of the fiscal aspects of each award (effort, F&A rate, cost sharing, etc.)

Approves expense transactions, including Payroll Costing Allocations, cost transfers, travel reimbursements and Requisitions, based on knowledge and interpretation of regulations and established policies and procedures, combined with sound judgment and evaluation of each specific situation.Approvals are to be made considering the compliance environment and the financial impact to TJU and it affiliates. Approves, or obtains approval, for administrative requests such as grant extensions, Professional Service Agreements and significant effort reductions. Responsible for the appropriate fiscal closeout of the residual balances of industrially sponsored awards.

Monitors monthly financial statements for overruns, accelerated or delayed expenditures and cash flow. Meets regularly with assigned departments to review accounts and address problems quickly; identifies departmental personnel in need of additional training. Educates faculty and administrators regarding award terms. Responds to requests for information.

Knows University financial systems (WorkDay) and grant accounting procedures. Can access financial information electronically.Has a working knowledge of University procedures and paper flow.

Incorporates the ORSS Customer Service Principles into the technical job duties listed above: Responsiveness, Courtesy, Knowledge, and The Extra Mile. Demonstrates these principles daily in each interaction with faculty, academic and administrative departmental staff, ORA colleagues, and sponsor contacts. Develops personal work style, processes, and habits that model these behaviors

Completes special projects as assigned by the AVP Research Support Services and Senior Associate Director.
