Job Description:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates, and providing expert advice on cost-related matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare and review detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including hard bids, negotiated bids, and design-build projects.
- Analyze and review project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify potential cost risks and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain detailed estimates of construction costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Conduct site visits and meetings with project stakeholders to gather information and validate estimates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and architects, to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry trends.
- Stay up-to-date with market conditions, including material prices, labor rates, and subcontractor availability.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on cost-related matters, including value engineering, cost savings opportunities, and risk management.
- Develop and maintain estimating databases, spreadsheets, and other tools to support the estimating process.
- Participate in bid reviews, scope reviews, and other project meetings to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other industry partners to stay informed about market conditions and best practices.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Cost Estimator (CCE) designation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a similar industry or sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry trends.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and completeness of estimates.
- Proficiency in estimating software, including Excel, Timberline, or similar programs
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Additional certifications, such as LEED AP or PMP.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital construction technologies.
- Knowledge of industry-specific software, such as Procore or PlanGrid.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects, including commercial, industrial, or government projects.
