The Provider Relations Document Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Provider Relations department by managing and improving Dental and Vision Provider Manuals, Toolkits, and other provider-facing documentation. This position enhances the overall Avsis provider experience by ensuring clarity, accessibility, and usability of key materials. The specialist collaborates with multiple cross-functional teams to streamline operations, drive workflow improvements, and support provider education efforts.
Competencies: Functional:
- Create, manage, and update Dental and Vision Provider Manuals and Toolkits and other provider-facing documentation.
- Partner with multiple cross-functional departments to develop and implement operational improvements to daily workflows.
- Be an accountable and supportive role to the Provider Relations team success to include department operational, quality, and individual KPIs.
- Responds to inquiries, provide education and may research, analyze, and recommend resolution updates to assist with provider confusion or disputes.
- Assist with the development of and improvement of Provider facing documentation, including but not limited to provider manuals, toolkits, bulletins, presentations, training documents.
- Ability to prioritize and organize a diverse workload required.
- Attend work-related events/conferences while representing the organization and brand in a professional manner as needed.
Core:
- Knowledge of health plan operations.
- Knowledge of provider/health plan contracts/agreements highly desired.
- Microsoft applications and other window-based applications to include an intermediate level in Microsoft Excel and databases, like creating formulas, pivots, charts and utilizing functions,
- Knowledge of and intermediate ability to use various computer programs such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Office including spreadsheets, data bases, word processing and presentation software and programs/systems utilized in data analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years' experience working in a Dental/Vision office.
- Comprehension of Medical/Dental/Vision Terminology.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in document management, technical writing, provider relations, or a similar role.
- 1 to 2 years of health insurance claims, as well as ability to analyze data to resolve provider claim issues preferred.
- A valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance and the ability to use your own vehicle.
- The ability to travel up to 50% is required to meet prospective clients, existing customers, attend trade shows and other meetings as needed. Travel times may vary and can range from short overnight trips to extended stays.
- As this role is a remote role, you are required to maintain internet service that allows you to complete your essential job duties without issue. Rates of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload while hardwired and not on a VPN are sufficient.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of Provider Relations or Member Engagement experience
- Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certified, Certified dental assistance (CDA), Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, Certified Ophthalmic Technician, or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician.
