The Med Tech laboratory stewardship coordinator:
Serves as the Lab Tests Utilization gatekeeper for prior authorizations by coordinating test reviews with the pathologists, assist with placing collectable orders, identify and resolve process gaps, monitor outcomes. Guides clinicians to current test information including algorithms, facilitates consultations with pathologists and doctoral-level staff to ensure lab testing supports optimal clinical care. Coordinate review and renewal of Reference lab contracts. Collaborate with VCU Legal and Compliance officers to ensure contracts align with Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act. Reviews and analyzes contract requirements to ensure completeness; ensure any compliance requirements are met. Establishes and monitors quality metrics for all reference lab vendors to meet regulatory requirements. Compiles metrics for Laboratory Utilization Committee. Essential Job Statements

Employment Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology from an accredited program Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology from an accredited program Licensure/Certification Required: Certified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or CLS by the National Credentialing Agency Licensure/Certification Preferred: N/A Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience Minimum of 4 years of clinical work experience as a Medical Technologist with at least 3 years in a leadership role (senior/lead level with increased responsibility) Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Strong analytical and abstract problem-solving skills Use computer systems or applications to access, create, edit, print, send, retrieve, or manipulate analytical data, files, or other information. Ability to work collaboratively internally and externally Highly organized and detailed oriented Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner Cultural Responsiveness Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Previous experience in an academic health care setting Working Conditions Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
