Summary
Following established policies, procedures, and study protocols, provides assistance on clinical research studies, including recruiting, evaluating, and consenting patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for study visits; performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.; maintaining and updating data generated by the study. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem)to provide degree equivalency verification.

Essential Functions
-Reviews proposals for compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines; verify all sponsor requirements are met.

-Recruiting patients for clinical trials, conducts phone interviews.

-Verifies the accuracy of study forms and updates them per protocol.

-Prepares data for analysis and data entry.

-Documents patient visits and procedures.

-Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC Procedures.

-Assists with interviewing study subjects.

-Assists with study regulator submissions.

We are recruiting a highly organized and motivated individual with foundational research methods and management skills and a passion for clinical rehabilitation care to serve as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) in the Advancing Rehabilitation outcomes through Implementation Science and Engagement (ARISE) Lab at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital under the direction of Dr. Carla Tierney-Hendricks, PhD, CCC-SLP. The mission of this lab is to enhance long-term outcomes in the stroke and brain injury populations by improving care access and quality and facilitating adoption of evidence-based practices using implementation science and community-engaged research methods. The ARISE lab specifically focuses on the care delivery needs of individuals with aphasia and other cognitive-communication disabilities.

We are specifically seeking a CRC to work on an NIH/NIDCD funded project entitled, "Applying Community-Engaged Intervention Mapping Methods to Improve Transitional Care in Aphasia Rehabilitation". Guided by the Intervention Mapping Framework and community-engaged research methods, this 5-year project will (1) evaluate current practices, needs and barriers and facilitators in transitional care in aphasia rehabilitation using qualitative research methods, (2) develop/refine an aphasia-specific transitional care intervention with a community advisory board and (3) test the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy this transitional care intervention within a clinical site.

The CRC will be primarily responsible for data entry, cleaning, and management, assisting with recruitment, preparation and management of IRB actions, data quality assurance, preparation of agendas for team meetings, communication with research participants, community advisory board members, and the lab PI, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and contributing to dissemination activities such as conference presentations and manuscripts. These responsibilities will be performed under the direct supervision of the lab PI, Dr. Tierney-Hendricks, and in close collaboration with lab team members and the community advisory board.

Specific responsibilities may include:

Data Collection & Management

  • Medical record abstraction
  • Data entry and extraction for self-report and standardized behavioral measures
  • Data cleaning of interview transcripts of participants with communication disabilities
  • Assist with recruitment, enrollment, and study milestone tracking

IRB/Regulatory

  • Completion of required personal certifications and renewals for IRB compliance
  • Assist with amendments and continuing reviews
  • Maintain research regulatory binder

Meetings/scheduling

  • Arrange, schedule and attend lab meetings
  • Preparation of agendas and minutes

Scholarly activities

  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative data analysis with close collaboration with PI and other team members
  • Assist with manuscript preparation such as developing tables, graphs, and contribute to writing
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations and other dissemination media

Qualifications and Experience:

Education/Degree

Bachelor's degree required. Clinical and patient-facing experience desired.

Experience
Required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Research experience

Preferred

  • Database development/management such as REDCap
  • Proficiency with quantitative analysis in Excel, R, or other statistical program
  • Experience with neurological populations
  • Experience work with individuals with communication disabilities
