Reports To: Engineering Manager & VP/Area Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Richmond, CA

Salary: $105,000 - $145,000

Summary

Plan, develop, coordinate and manage onsite construction engineering activities for marine construction projects. Project durations are typically between 3 and 24 months. Projects include bulk cargo and container wharves, liquids terminals, pier construction, bridge construction, shoreline stabilization and protection, offshore structures, and marine structures demolition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for all engineering activities on the project ensuring that all work is done in compliance with the project plans, specifications, and applicable permits
  • Preparation of project work plans, work element plans, and JSAs
  • Preparation of all pay estimates for submittal to the client
  • Conducts critical path scheduling, baseline scheduling, and 3 week look ahead scheduling
  • Responsible for cost control including tracking and reporting project costs
  • Manages, teaches, and mentors all field engineers assigned to the project
  • Responsible for project survey requirements
  • Responsible for project planning and layout
  • Coordinates project activities with the client and other project stakeholders
  • Monitors production and operations on the assigned job
  • Oversees contractor quality control reporting
  • Provides general project support
  • Responsible for project files and organization of project office
  • Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct. Maintain a high standard of ethical behavior, encourages ethical behavior in others, supports ethical decisions and actively seeks appropriate resolution to potential ethical conflicts.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Supervises field engineers on assigned projects. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and all federal/state laws.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities desired in candidates.



  • B.S. degree in a technical area of study, typically Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction management or civil engineering experience
  • Marine, structures, heavy lifts, or concrete construction experience preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management software preferred


Job Location

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Main office in Northern California is in Richmond, CA. Projects are typically in the Bay Area, although could range from San Luis Obispo to Eureka, CA.

Physical Demands

Position is primarily a field position, and will require travel, including visits and monitoring of construction job sites. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc. The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time.
