Summary

We are seeking highly motivated undergraduate or graduate students for a Research Internship focused on deep learning, large language models (LLMs), and agentic AI-based services for industrial applications. This position is ideal for candidates interested in applying advanced AI techniques-including LLMs and agentic architectures-to challenges in power systems, control systems, or power management.

As a Research Intern, you will work alongside experienced researchers and engineers to develop, implement, and evaluate machine learning algorithms and LLM-driven agentic solutions for real-world industrial use cases. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to projects that advance the state-of-the-art in AI for critical infrastructure, while gaining hands-on experience with modern deep learning frameworks, LLMs, and large-scale datasets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and prototype deep learning and LLM-based agentic AI models for power systems and control applications.

  • Explore and implement reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and LLM-driven agentic solutions for optimization and decision-making tasks in industrial settings.

  • Analyze datasets, extract insights, and validate both model and agentic system performance.

  • Present findings and contribute to technical documentation and research publications.

  • Participate in regular team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and code reviews.

A Day in the Life

  • Work with mentors to define research objectives and milestones, including those involving LLM-based agentic AI.

  • Develop and test novel algorithms and agentic workflows for real world industrial application.

  • Review recent research papers on deep learning, LLMs, and agentic AI, applying relevant methods to ongoing projects.

  • Communicate results through presentations and written reports.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Recently completed or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program inComputer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or other relevant engineering departments.

  • Strong programming skills in Python (or similar languages) and some exposure to LangChain, LangGraph, or similar LLM orchestration frameworks.

  • Coursework or experience in deep learning and large language models.

  • Hands-on experience or coursework in building or integrating LLMs for agentic AI-based services, especially in industrial or engineering domains.

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (preferably PyTorch).

  • Interest or background in power systems, control systems, or power management.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Strong aptitude towards building and testing projects.

  • Available for a full-time (40h/week) internship for a minimum of 3-4 months starting July/August 2024.

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a master's or higher degree course. Must be able to relocate to the internship location.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or exposure to agentic ai framework.

  • Prior research or project experience in AI for physical systems or industrial applications, especially involving LLMs and agentic AI.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, or deploy LLM-powered agentic workflows for industrial or engineering use cases.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

If you are passionate about leveraging deep learning, LLMs, and agentic AI to solve real-world challenges in power and control systems, we encourage you to apply. This internship offers a unique opportunity to grow your technical skills, collaborate with leading experts, and contribute to impactful research.
