    Assignment:
    Monday - Friday
    9 am - 5:30 pm (40 hours per week)

    Wages and Benefits:
    Starting at $21.94 per hour

    Primary Objective of Position:
    Provide one-on-one support to a student with special needs.


    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Provide support within an early childhood aged childcare setting by working by working one-on-one with a student identified as needing support to participate in daily activities.
    2. Assist student with necessary supervision during transitions, large and small group activities, and unstructured play. Assess and apply appropriate intervention when a student is unable to participate in the group plan to ensure safety for both the student and the group.
    3. Apply student management techniques and anticipate, prevent or stop self-destructive student behavior.
    4. Work collaboratively with staff in the team to ensure the safety and success of all children.
    5. Participate in planning and preparation activities.
    6. Assist students with self-care tasks that may include feeding, dressing, and toileting. Lifting will be necessary for repositioning and physical restraints as necessary.
    7. Operate specialized equipment (i.e., wheelchairs, and augmentative communication devices, assistive technology) as needed and supervise its safe and proper use.
    8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.


    Training and Experience:

    1. Experience working with children with special needs or behavior challenges.
    2. Experience supporting student instruction in the classroom preferred.
    3. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
    4. Complete a required number of staff development hours annually.
    5. Complete CCAP required training prior to first day of employment.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    1. Proven positive human relations skills with adults and students
    2. Demonstrated ability to take direction and work as a team member
    3. Demonstrated ability to take initiative
    4. Evidence of friendly, outgoing personality
    5. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
    6. Proven record of punctuality and responsibility
    7. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

      Physical Requirements:

      Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
