Assists the EVP & General Counsel on providing key stakeholders legal input into strategic and tactical organizational initiatives. Works on complex business transactions, negotiates critical contracts, and helps advance organizational goals. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Assists the EVP & General Counsel in leading strategic and tactical legal initiatives.
  • Assists the EVP & General Counsel as key legal advisor on all major organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization to provide legal input into business strategies, structures, and operations.
  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates complex contracts, business agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Provides continuing counsel and guidance on matters related to health care, youth care, finance, corporate governance, contracts, insurance, risk management, real estate, construction, and employment law.
  • Assists the EVP and General Counsel in structuring and managing the company's internal legal function and staff.
  • Researches, reviews and interprets laws, cases, regulations, and contracts.
  • Helps to ensure that the organization conducts its business in compliance with applicable federal, state, and city laws and regulations.
  • Participates in the development of corporate policies, procedures and programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present legal information to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to successfully resolve complex legal issues and mitigate risks.
  • High sense of urgency and the ability to work independently in a team environment while handling multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively, work diplomatically, and foster healthy business relationships.
  • Willingness to learn new areas of law and adapt to an ever-changing regulatory environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school required.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Nebraska or able to qualify for licensing in Nebraska required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience as a licensed attorney including experience within a corporate environment required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Candidates with real-world experience in using their legal expertise to support business, financial, and operational strategies are preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in corporate law, contracts law, and business negotiations preferred.
  • Extensive experience overseeing and managing the entire contract lifecycle, from initial drafting and negotiation to execution and follow-through preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
