Basic Job Functions: Performs all necessary maintenance of reliability test equipment, in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner. Ability to read and develop schematics and mechanical drawings, build custom test systems and qualify the system for release to reliability operations under minimal supervision. Advanced troubleshooting capability of electromechanical systems. Mentors' junior technicians in troubleshooting and repair of equipment. Minimize equipment down time through effective and efficient deployment of preventative maintenance procedures and ensure that adequate spare parts are maintained for critical machine components. Effectively coordinate and communicate with reliability operations to schedule equipment maintenance and report status. Education/Experience:
- AS degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, electronics or materials science with 10+ years of experience in a similar role OR 5 years in a RET II position at First Solar OR
- BS degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, electronics or materials science with either: 1-2 years of experience OR 1-2 years in a RET II position at First Solar.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to critique electrical schematics and mechanical drawings then develop mark-up drawings for required equipment modifications or to correct drawing deficiencies.
- Ability to learn the design, operation, calibration, and preventative maintenance of lab and testing equipment and systems.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Advanced electrical / electronic knowledge.
- Ability to communicate on a regular basis with all levels of Associates.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Must be a self-starter that can work under minimal supervision.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair existing test equipment. Recommend and support equipment modifications for high failure rate issues or components.
- Utilize Oracle for management of preventative maintenance and tracking of spare parts.
- Active involvement in the design of internally developed test equipment.
- Leads build, install and qualification efforts for internally developed equipment.
- Provide requirements input for equipment to be built by outside vendors.
- Coordinates install and qualification efforts for vendor supplied test equipment.
- Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine. Support and work with engineers in a wide variety of tasks.
- May assist in mentoring, and training lower-level employees in proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Responsible for interfacing with internal associates and supplier representatives, as required to complete assigned projects.
Reporting Relationships:
- This position will not have direct reports.
