Summary

Supervise, direct, and develop production leadership personnel in the safe and effective utilization of the plant's manufacturing facilities. Produces those products to the company's and customer's specifications according to production schedules.

Duties and Responsibilties

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Comply with Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment
  • Manage day-to-day operations of a 24/7 production operation providing direction to achieve site objectives
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures
  • Facilitate safety training and complete all incident investigations and reporting
  • Manage operational metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce costs, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service
  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures with consistency across all shifts
  • Identify opportunities and help provide support for resolution.Set clear expectations and maintain accountability
  • Drive lean management methodology implementation across department
  • Track staffing requirements and hire new employees as needed
  • Develop competencies and skills of direct reports and support training initiatives
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower and equipment to manage efficient workflow
  • Delegate responsibility and recognize, develop, train and utilize talents and capabilities of all shift personnel
  • Partner with engineering, maintenance and quality departments to ensure all quality standards, practices, testing and metrics are administered and adhered to and prioritize sequence of actions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as scrap reduction initiatives and quality/innovations
  • Successfully complete professional development initiatives and promote developmental opportunities to shift personnel
  • Spearhead projects, as needed and/or assigned, that solve current business problems and /or directly contribute to long-term business objectives
  • Available on call 24/7 and during emergency situations

Education, Experience and Qualifications

The employee should have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of study with emphasis on technical competencies
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Knowledge and experience in material control, engineering, quality and maintenance
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (TPM, WCM, LEAN)
  • Recognized leader who leads by example
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate upwardly to top management and downward to a wide range of audiences
  • Results driven with ability to manage change while creating a positive environment
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Proficiency in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to make effective decisions
  • Excel in planning, executing and managing projects
  • Experience may be considered equivalent if experience demonstrates increased depth and breadth of responsibility

Essential Physical Requirements/ Work Environment

  • Must be able to kneel, squat, bend/twist at the waist, and stack parts at or above head height
  • Must have full range of motion (ROM) of shoulders, knees, hips, elbows, wrists, and hands to inspect, pack, and stack finished parts
  • Must be able to wear compliant ear protection if and when, working in areas exposed to noise levels above OSHA threshold limits
  • Must be able to work in hot environments (Especially summer months) that can exceed 100F
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (Safety toe shoes, ANSI Z87 eye protection, CR gloves)
  • Must be able to lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
