Company Overview
Performance Drone Works (PDW) builds technologies for the warfighter, by the warfighter. Born out of the Drone Racing League, our roots are competitive, our mindset is tactical, and our mission is clear: deliver purpose-built unmanned systems to those who serve. We are not here to sell vapor; we build and ship real capabilities for real missions.

As we expand, we are seeking a Configuration Manager to join our team and drive rigorous, defense-oriented configuration and data management practices across our manufacturing and sustainment operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product integrity, traceability, and lifecycle control in alignment with DoD and customer requirements.

  • Serve as the control for all configuration baselines, ensuring change control boards (CCBs) operate effectively and changes are tracked and documented accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and sustainment teams to manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), variances, and translate their effects to the production floor.
  • Maintain accurate records of product baselines, Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, software revisions, and hardware configurations in PLM and ERP systems.
  • Support manufacturing and sustainment teams with configuration traceability, documentation packages, and serialization/control of deliverables.
  • Coordinate with DoD customers and third-party auditors to ensure compliance with configuration data deliverables (CDRLs), including ATO/IFC submissions.
  • Ensure alignment between physical configuration and technical data, especially for aircraft and unmanned system components subject to DoD flight clearance.
  • Provide training and guidance on CM principles to cross-functional teams to ensure adherence across all programs.
  • Support data management and document control, including technical publications and deliverables for government contracts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Configuration Management within a DoD or aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of DoD acquisition regulations, CM standards (e.g., MIL-STD-973, EIA-649), and export control (ITAR, DFARS).
  • Experience with PLM/ERP systems (e.g., Arena, Windchill, SAP, Oracle) and version control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical baselines, change control, and documentation for complex mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or military aviation platforms is highly desirable.
