DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in the skilled maintenance and repair of a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment like rollers, sweepers, and mixers, as well as powered hand tools. Your duties will encompass performing repairs on diesel equipment, excluding diagnostics and parts rebuilding, along with addressing air brake systems and diesel engine fuel injection systems. You will also implement a preventive maintenance program that covers oil changes, mechanical diagnostics, tune-ups, tire replacements, and repairs to engine sub-assemblies, cooling systems, and various vehicle systems, including suspension, electrical, heating and air conditioning, fuel, brake, steering, and driveline systems. Additionally, you will conduct official state safety and emissions inspections for vehicles within your licensing class, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This involves road testing vehicles, issuing inspection stickers, and maintaining precise State Inspection Records and related documentation. Your role will also require performing essential maintenance on diesel equipment, such as oil changes, filter servicing, and replacing water pumps and gaskets, while addressing repairs on electrical, cooling, and driveline systems. Beyond routine maintenance, you will make necessary field adjustments to promote safe operation and minimize equipment wear. You will carry out minor repairs and preventive maintenance, including cleaning and servicing equipment, and demonstrate repair techniques to colleagues. Assisting fellow Diesel Mechanics with major repairs and maintaining detailed equipment records will also be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will provide emergency road service and occasionally perform maintenance and repairs in field environments, such as County Stockpiles. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
- Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Winter shifts: 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires employees to hold a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
- This position requires possession of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Class 1 Certified Inspection Mechanic.
Post-Employment Requirement:
- Employee will be required to obtain a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate.
Additional Requirements:
- You must supply own tool box and basic tools.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
