Overview

The Center for Health Sciences at SRI International is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to support projects examining sleep, memory, brain function, and health across a range of populations. Studies may involve both healthy participants and clinical groups, including adults and adolescents.

This role offers hands-on training and experience in neuroscience, applied psychology, and physiological measurement in a collaborative research setting. It includes both daytime and evening work, with some overnight and weekend shifts in the sleep laboratory to conduct polysomnography and monitor participants.

This is an on-site position based in Menlo Park, CA.



Responsibilities

    Collect a variety of data from adult and adolescent participants in lab-based studies
  • Perform overnight polysomnography sessions in the sleep lab, including lab set-up, participant EEG hook-ups, and safe operation of sophisticated equipment to record sleep physiology
  • Assist with MRI scan data collection and participant preparation
  • Administer computerized neuropsychological tests
  • Recruit and screen participants for eligibility
  • Manage participant records and maintain accurate study documentation
  • Enter and manage data in databases
  • Track study progress and meet deadlines set by investigators
  • Comply with all governmental regulations and SRI policies regarding health and safety


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in psychology, neuroscience, physiology, or a related field
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and keep a tight schedule
  • Experience working with people, including adolescents and children, to support high-quality data collection
  • Comfort with computer-driven devices and data entry
  • Attention to detail and reliability in following protocols
  • Availability to work variable hours, including some evenings, weekends, and overnight sleep lab shifts
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with principles of research design and data collection in academic or lab settings
  • Previous experience collecting human subjects data during undergraduate or graduate training
  • Phlebotomy license (preferred but not required)
  • Spanish language skills (preferred but not required)

The salary for this role is: $68,640.
