SUMMARY:

This important role, located at the Harrisonville, MO facility, is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety programs. The EHS Manager will ensure the completion of all environmental & safety training programs for applicable employees. The position will oversee the accident protection and prevention program and recommend corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to applicable regulations and standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of Church & Dwight environmental & safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable environmental, safety, and health regulations including, but not limited to: OSHA, EPA, Local Department of Natural Resources, DOT, PHMSA
  • Responsible for being the liaison for governmental agencies during audits and inspections.
  • Responsible for corrective actions from governmental agencies audits and inspections as well as corporate EHS audits.
  • Responsible for reporting all EHS metrics to Corporate ESO.
  • Responsible for all environmental, safety, and health program updates and management.
  • Ensures that all environmental permits are maintained including but not limited to: SWPPP, Air Permit, Waste Water Discharge
  • Overseas the implementation of all environmental programs.
  • Ensures appropriate environmental and safety training is completed, relevant to the work environment, including new employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective safety committees.
  • Oversees the accurate and timely reporting of labor hours and injury/illness information.
  • Oversees the coordination of Right to Know information for all employees.
  • Establishes the facilities first aid and emergency response capabilities
  • Monitors the effectiveness of procedures for correcting hazardous conditions and work practices.
  • Works with department supervision to conduct accident investigations in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Responsible for all workers' compensation claims management.
  • Conducts frequent plant safety inspections and observes workers for safe and unsafe behaviors.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the security program including the visitor management system.
  • Coordinates the management of the business continuity program.
  • Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Participation and champion of all LEAN activities
  • Other job duties as required by Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • An experience level of 5-10 years working in a similar capacity within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required in safety sciences, Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering or Health & safety.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Professional certifications in EHS related fields are considered beneficial and may include CIH, ASP, CHMM & CSP.
  • The ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work under time restrains and result driven.
  • Ability to organize, classify and structure multiple pieces of information accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, competent in problem solving, team building, and planning.
  • A clear understanding of federal and state environmental regulations and OSHA standards and guidelines and able to apply to a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of worker's compensation guidelines and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
