The impact you'll make

Metrology group is responsible for process validation readiness and data reliability as well as delivering new techniques for emerging requirements, and we provide expert services for techniques which require dedicated operational ownership, and training/support for those techniques appropriate for direct use by process engineers and techs.

As a Process Chemical Engineer, you will be a pivotal force in supporting Lam's engineering process and improvement, helping product groups solve organic, outgassing, ionic, and metallic ontamination-related issues by developing testing solutions/analytical characterizations and providing fast trace-level impurities data or characterization information.

What you'll do
  • Develop new analytical testing/characterization capabilities and related sample preparation methods.
  • Improve exiting analytical capabilties, sample preparations, and sample test processes for continuous operational excellence in support of advanced engineering activities.
  • Operate advanced analytical instruements such as MALDI, GCMS, Hapsite, RGA/TPD, ICPMS, IC, etc. Run sample tests routinely, prepare reports, and if needed, present data and solutions to help solve engineering teams' process development by interacting or collaborating with engineering communities.
  • Approximately 70% of the role involves servicing workflow requests from product development engineers for sample preparation and analysis on instruments within your area.Conduct analytical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Maintain overall lab capabilities in a high state of readiness by performing regular instrument calibrations, preparing standards from reagents, following and improving SOPs/quality procedures.
Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Major in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, biochemistry
  • Ph.D. degree with 2+ years of relevant analytical technique development experience
  • M.Sc. degree with 4+ years of relevant analytical technique capability development experience
  • Strong related analytical instrument operation and equipment troubleshooting skills, such as MALDI, GCMS, RGA/TPD, ICPMS etc.
  • Hands-on experience with wet chemistry lab work and sample preparations.
  • Good written and verbal communication/presentation skills to work with a large internal customer base.
  • Self-motivated, diligent, proactive, and team work player.
Preferred qualifications
  • Multiple years' direct working experiences with MALDI, GCMS, NMR
  • Semiconductor analytical test lab experiences
  • Flexibility to work hours per business needs

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $84,000.00 -$185,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
