Summary of Job Duties:*This is a part-time temporary position*

The Research Associate III will manage and oversee the Vivarium unit. He/She will also manage the mouse colonies; perform Western blots and real-time PCR, and cell culture techniques. The Research Assistant III will prepare buffers and oversee microscopy and laboratory techniques, as well as equipment. Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in science or related field, plus five(5) years of research and/or research lab experience, or

  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field, plus seven (7) years of research and/or research lab experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in Western blots and/or real-time PCR.

  • Genotyping

  • Excellent at multi-tasking and with interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Manages experiments focusing on cardiac remodeling and molecular mechanisms associated with aging, and manages mouse colonies.

  • Assists in developing animal protocol and clinical protocols.

  • Performs real-time PCR and cell culture techniques.

  • Oversees microscopy and general laboratory techniques.

  • Prepares peer-reviewed scientific publications and manuscripts.

  • Oversees the analysis of data obtained through assays and ensures the arrangement of results is illustrated in a workable form.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
