Job Description

The Kathryn Moss laboratory in the Nextgen Precision Health building is currently looking for a Research Specialist II, that has an interest in peripheral nerve disease. This position will provide support to the lab by providing assistance with research projects and lab administration. Dr. Moss's areas of focus are peripheral neuropathy, neuromuscular disorders, pathomechanism identification and candidate therapeutis.

The Research Specialist II will be responsible for the following:
- Perform experiments and measurements (molecular, cellular, systems neuroscience): PCR mouse genotyping, immunostaining, immunoblotting, tissue culture, transfection, etc.
- Laboratory admin (ordering lab materials, organizing laboratory to maintain clean lab space, reimbursements, dispose of chemical waste and contact chemical safety to remove waste, etc.)
- Organize, visualize, analyze data from data received in experiments, compiling for reporting purposes
- Assist with mouse colony management: cleaning, feeding, weaning mouse litters and maintaining excel sheets of genotypes and sexes.
- Attend lab meetings and relevant seminars

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.87 - $30.00 per hour
Grade: GGS 008
