The Filler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production equipment used to fill sauce cups, pouches, bags or bottles with product that adheres to our rigorous quality specifications. This position involves using machine control panels to effectively run and monitor the filler machine as well as loading the filler machine with correct cups and lids. Additional key responsibilities include performing various quality checks, maintaining accurate documentation, and executing product changeovers and sanitation tasks. - Comply with GMP standards as set forth by company, and actively contribute to maintaining food safety, product legality and quality. Stay alert for any potential risks or signs of product safety concerns and promptly report them to your immediate supervisor.
- Set machine speeds according to the standards set by each piece of equipment.
- Use HMI control panel to adjust and monitor fill volume and machine speed.
- Make adjustments to optimize machine performance and efficiency.
- Diagnose machine performance issues, perform basic troubleshooting, and involve team lead or maintenance as necessary.
- Conduct quality checks to verify product integrity and adherence to specifications.
- Verify heat seal system (Sight Tech) is working correctly, may be required to check seals on conveyor line at times
- Sort through rejected cups and rework cups to reclaim product as time allows
- Communicate effectively with Supervisor, Team Lead, and/or member of Quality Assurance team regarding any production or packaging issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production processes, quality checks, and shift pass downs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Assist in other areas of production as directed by your supervisor
- Disassemble machinery and equipment
- Clean and sanitize equipment using steam hoses and various chemicals
- Hand wash and sanitize all disassembled machinery parts as needed
- Reassemble machinery and equipment for production use
- Run CIP's (Clean in Place) on production process lines and equipment following SSOP's (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures)
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Shift: 3rd shift (9:00pm-5:00am; Sun-Thu and occasional weekend work as needed per business need) Shift Premium and Attendance Incentive: This position qualifies for a $2/hour shift premium and an attendance incentive ($1 added to base pay rate with perfect attendance for the week) Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience working in a food manufacturing environment preferred
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately follow documents such as production schedule, labels, product codes, ingredient information and batch records
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic proficiency in math for understanding fill rates, cup/lid usage, and calculate remaining production time
- Ability to use basic software systems (E21) to input and retrieve data
- Ability to apply common sense and follow detailed instructions in both written and verbal formats
- Problem-solving skills to handle routine issues within a standardized environment
- Proactively identify safety and GMP opportunities
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 55 pounds occasionally
