Performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, transmission facilities, networks, automatic throw-over switches, street light systems, power plants and wind farms to provide continuous and dependable electric service to customers.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

* The apprentice level is a training program consisting of classes, Computer Based Curriculum and on-the-job training to obtain the qualifications to achieve the journey (fully qualified) level of the job. As training is satisfactorily completed and performance meets expectations, the apprentice moves to higher levels of responsibility and correspondingly higher pay until the journey level is achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Install and repair transformers, secondary cable, risers, pedestals, underground services and self contained meters to residential, commercial and industrial customers.

* Install and repair all types of primary cable, risers, switch cubicles, automatic throw-over, network switches, and make associated terminations on underground distribution systems.

* Utilize equipment, materials and manpower in a safe, efficient and effective manner and maintain accurate records of work performed: Complete time sheets, Equipment Failure Reports, Meter Orders, and other appropriate documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

* Locate and repair underground faults on primary and secondary circuits.

* Perform troubleshooting and service restoration in emergency situations resulting from equipment or cable failure, vehicle accidents, severe weather, etc.

* Extend and rebuild the distribution system based on engineering drawings in accordance with Approved Construction Standards, which includes construction of large vaults.

* Perform substation switching for the network and automatic throw-over system.

* Construct and maintain underground network distribution system in accordance with approved safety standards and work methods: Perform appropriate switching to de-energize facilities and/or re-route current to allow service continuity and safe job performance.

* Construct and maintain underground network electric distribution systems in accordance with approved safety standards and work methods: Install, repair and/or remove conductors, transformers, capacitors, self-contained meters, network, automatic throw-over equipment, services, and security/street lights.

* Members in the apprentice program perform duties related to the craft and consistent with their achieved level within the program which may include:

* All other duties as assigned.

* Operate radio to receive and/or transmit job related information.

* Maintain and store vehicle in clean and proper working order.

* Attend and participate in safety meetings, schools and training sessions regarding safe and proper performance.

* Operate hydraulic boom to move heavy loads, dig holes, and set poles.

* Maintain positive relationships with contacts inside and outside the Company: Contact customers in a courteous manner regarding service installation, repairs, interruptions, etc., and assure a positive company image is projected.

* Inspect, maintain, and test tools, ladders, hotsticks, and all other individually assigned equipment.

* Maintain and operate assigned vehicle used in performance of duties: Arrange for regular and timely servicing of vehicle.

* Maintain positive working relationships with Company departments and staff, ensuring appropriate and timely transaction of information and services.

REQUIREMENTS

* High School Diploma/GED

WORKING CONDITIONS

* Required to wear PPE

* Required to obtain and maintain certification to work in Confined Spaces.

* Required to work in Confined Spaces.

* Required to obtain and maintain any security clearance badges to enter any government facility serviced by the company.

* Required to successfully pass a comprehensive background check and meet requirements to obtain and maintain clearance to access government facilities (i.e. Tinker Airforce Base).

* Required to work with energized equipment.

* Required to perform various duties while wearing a respirator.

* Required to have Class A Commercial Driver's License with DOT certification and no restrictions against driving a manual shift vehicle. Will be required to obtain a Tanker endorsement on your DOT license within 90 days of hire.

* Successful completion of Lineman and switching schools administered or sponsored by the Company.

* May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.

* Required to work with multi-crafts crews and other groups.

* May be required to be periodically available for after-hours emergencies throughout OG& Service Territory.

* Ability to work under hazardous conditions.

* Requires travel across OGE service areas.

* May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, overtime, and call-outs.

SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

* This is a DOT Regulated Position - Member will drive a single vehicle, or a truck and trailer combination weighing over 10,001 lbs.

* The operation of equipment, machinery or power tools;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

* Ability to read, understand and follow Construction Standards, Operating Practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), Approved Work Methods, and/or Engineering sketches/specifications.

* Computer skills with knowledge of software, as required (e.g., MS-Outlook email).

* Ability to understand and comply with company policies and operating procedures.

* Mechanical aptitude and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g., forklift, backhoe, etc.).

* Ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions and evolving business needs.

* Ability to operate trucks, tractors, and other construction equipment.

* Basic understanding of electrical principals.

* Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.

* Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.

$52,208 - $88,296
