Case Manager
University Student Housing
Position Description The Case Manager has primary responsibilities in Case Management and Institutional Support, On-Call/Crisis/Emergency Response, Administration, and Supervision/Advising. The Case Manager is responsible for for providing high-level student support intervention, coordination of services to student experiencing academic, personal, or medical difficulties to assist them in removing barriers to success through goal-oriented and strengths-based assessment to enhance their holistic well-being while living on campus. Case Manager is a key resource in delivering and participating in prevention education programming for their assigned areas. The Case Manager is supervised by the University Student Housing (USH) Care Team Director within the Residence Life area.

Major/Essential Functions Case Management and Institutional Support (40%)
- Provide case management and outreach to students experiencing varying levels of distress including, but not limited to, depression/wellness, alcohol and other drug, and suicidal ideation/attempt within assigned residential area.
- Assess student needs holistically through intake appointments, coordinate action plan/referrals, provide support in connection to appropriate resources on-campus and off-campus.
- Document and maintain up-to-date records of students of concern via the Maxient system.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders which support student wellness.
- Coordinate the implementation of the USH Care Team programming/education initiative within assigned area.
- Provide direct oversight to Fall Safety Month or Spring Success Month as assigned.
- Represent department on university programming committees including, but not limited to Suicide Prevention Week, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and Sexual Assault Awareness Month as assigned.
On-Call/Crisis/Emergency Response (15%)
- Serve as a member of the Residence Life Leadership On-Call Team throughout the academic year, university breaks, and summer for a residential population of over 8000 students.
- Serve as on-call back-up staff member for critical mental health cases which may arise.
- Be available on a call-to-duty status to assist with residence hall and campus emergencies.
- Communicate appropriately with emergency personnel, University Student Housing, and other campus officials as needed.
- Support professional staff in responding to crises and providing follow-up.
Administration (25%)
- Provide administrative oversite for area functions including but not limited to budget management, residential curriculum, payroll approval, Maxient and student of concern reporting, and other departmental databases and systems.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess and report on effectiveness of area initiatives.
- Advise, chair or serve on departmental or ResLife committees or liaison opportunities, as assigned.
- Complete special projects, provide departmental support as assigned (including, but not limited to opening, closing, departmental events, etc.), and assist in additional USH Care Team duties during peak times within the academic year.
Supervision/Advising (20%)
- Provide indirect supervision and support to Residence Life Professional and Student Staff, particularly in relation in assigned functional area.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct supervisees/advisees and indirect staff, as assigned.
- Train and advise Residence Life Staff on student of concern outreach and appropriate reporting for area/departmental/Institutional initiatives.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job-related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field. Licensure in Social Work or Clinical Counseling preferred. Two or more years progressive case management experience, residence life experience or experience in a field related to the functional area of the position.
