Position Description Coordinates fitness programs for the Recreation Center. Organizes and instructs exercise classes for all fitness levels. Ensures that all participants are properly trained on the use of the facility's exercise equipment. Responsible for making sure the exercise area and equipment are safe and clean. Works under general supervision.

Major/Essential Functions
- Design and Deliver Engaging Workouts: Plan and execute safe, effective, and motivating workouts aligned with the specific format(s) taught. Classes should be structured to meet the needs of participants at varying fitness levels.
- Lead Fitness Sessions in Specialized Formats: Instructors may teach in one or more of the following areas, with the appropriate certifications:
- F45 Training and Personal Training: Must hold a valid Personal Training Certification accredited through the NCCA such as NASM, ACE, NSCA, NCSF or ISSA. Responsible for developing individualized workout programs, assessing client progress, and providing safe technique correction.
- Pilates Reformer: Must hold a current certification in Pilates Reformer instruction through a recognized program.
- Group Fitness: Must have a group exercise certification through a nationally recognized provider (e.g., AFAA, ACE, NASM, Les Mills). Specialty certifications will be accepted such as 200-hour yoga, Zumba, Barre Above, Schwinn, etc. Should be capable of teaching formats such as strength training, cycle, HIIT, step, barre, mat Pilates, dance cardio, or yoga, depending on skill set and certifications.
- Ensure participant safety by demonstrating proper form, providing verbal and physical cueing, and offering modifications as needed. Actively monitor class for signs of discomfort or injury and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Create an inclusive and supportive environment by fostering a motivating, body-positive, and welcoming atmosphere. Build rapport with participants and encourage continued engagement in fitness programs.
- Maintain professional standards and equipment:
- Arrive early to prepare the space, equipment, and music.
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure equipment is functioning properly before and after class.
- Report any safety or facility concerns to the Associate Director of Fitness and Wellness.
- Commit to Continued Education: Stay current with trends in the fitness industry and maintain all required certifications. Pursue continuing education opportunities as available.
- Provide guidance and support to new student staff by assisting in their onboarding, training, and ongoing skill development to ensure high-quality service and program delivery.
Required Qualifications Completion of high school or the equivalent with no experience.
