Actively leads and engages associates at the cylinder fill plant operations to ensure the highest levels of safety and efficient production of compressed gas products. This leader is personally committed to following all safety work rules and wearing all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ensures strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as meeting Airgas Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

  • Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.

  • Leads shift of plant operators taking direction from Plant manager to fulfill cylinder requirements for area order fulfillment needs.

  • Responsible for coordinating plant activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations for the maximization of production.

  • Ensure route trucks or loaded efficiently bringing any product shortfalls to management's attention.

  • Assists with the loading and unloading of cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers. Operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

  • Follows and maintains all FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements and regulations that apply to compressed gases.

  • Communicates frequently with the Plant Manager on production efficiencies, product availability, and inventory.

  • Provides training for associates on loading/unloading operations and fill operations at the plant level.

  • Completes quality control process and paperwork as required.

  • Reports any equipment or facility defects to management immediately.

  • Takes initiative to improve facilities (i.e. operations, reliability, and costs) while staying with a budget and communicating with Plant Manager.

  • Fosters a conducive environment with a diversified team.

  • Responsible for safety and safety practices of assigned personnel.

  • Maintains neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.

  • All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Required Length and Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years at a Production Operator III or IV level including filling all low/high pressure and mixture filling.

  • Strong background in gas, welding and safety supply industry or chemical industry.

  • Completion of training and certifications for filling all cryogenic liquids as well as all pure industrial gases.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to accurately fill mixed gases within +-2%.

  • Must be able to analyze completed products utilizing applicable analytical equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Must be proficient in operation of forklift and maintain appropriate forklift certifications.

  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and operate in a drug-free workplace.

The hourly base pay range for this position in California is $$29.00 - $32.00. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
