Responsibilities
Position summary: The Brake Press Operator uses press brakes and miscellaneous equipment to create, shape, and customize materials into a variety of forms dictated by Fabrication plans. Reads and interprets detailed and complex instructions to produce the desired forms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Following the Safety policy, including PPE
- Setting up and operating press brakes and other equipment on a variety of parts of all shapes and sizes
- Checking products against standards for conformance to specifications
- Following specifications in job orders, verbal instructions, and blueprints
- Observing machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
- Performing minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces
- Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifuku's QMS policies and procedures.
- Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide
leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Math skills
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of standard and metric measurements
- Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Team orientation
- Crane operation certification required
- Forklift operation certification required
- LOTO certification preferred, but not required
- Availability to work on Saturdays as needed
ADA Requirements:
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
Job Conditions:
- The worker is subject to: inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to: hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
