Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Center for Counseling and Student Development is the primary agent on campus responsible for providing counseling services to students who encounter conflict with the university environment and/or who face personal difficulties that increase their level of stress during the college years. In addition to the provision of direct services for clients,
CCSD personnel are involved in program development and consulting activities for the university community. The mission of the center is to enhance personal growth through developmental, preventive and remedial programs and services designed to facilitate skill development, acquisition of knowledge and understanding of self and others. The scope of
CCSD services entails: individual counseling, crisis intervention, academic counseling, after-hours emergency on-call coverage, campus and community referral, campus outreach, and consultation. Therapy provided through the
CCSD remains within the scope of brief to moderate length treatment endeavors (up to approximately 10 sessions) with an attempt to maintain most treatment with a shorter-term framework. Counseling is available, without additional charge beyond and fees, to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at East Carolina University who have paid the health service fee. |
Job Duties |
This position is responsible for answering the phone, gathering information from student callers and entering an initial consultation appointment into the system for the urgent support counselors, receiving students in the lobby, assisting with clerical tasks for leadership, providing support to counselors for various tasks as needed, and aiding in scheduling students referred for
AOD services. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
