EEO Coordinator

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources for the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN), the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Coordinator is responsible for promoting and ensuring compliance with equal employment opportunity laws and policies within the Network. They work to develop and implement training programs and policies that promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, investigate claims of discrimination and harassment, and recommend appropriate remediation measures.

The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Coordinator plays a crucial role within the Network and is designed for an individual with a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment and promoting diversity within the workforce.

Responsibilities:

Policy Development and Implementation: Formulate, update, and implement EEO policies aimed at preventing discrimination and promoting equality within the workplace. Ensure these policies are communicated effectively to all employees.

Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs focused on EEO compliance, diversity, and inclusion to educate staff on their rights and responsibilities. Provide resources that enhance employee awareness of EEO issues.

Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and assess organizational practices to ensure adherence to EEO laws and regulations. Conduct regular audits and assessments of recruitment, hiring, and promotional practices to identify areas of compliance risk.

Investigation and Resolution: Handle complaints and allegations of discrimination or harassment in a timely and thorough manner. Conduct investigations while ensuring confidentiality and fairness, advising management on corrective actions and strategies to prevent recurrence.

Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports and analyses related to EEO metrics, compliance issues, and trends. Present findings to management and recommend actionable steps to address any identified disparities or concerns.

Liaison Activities: Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies concerning EEO matters. Collaborate with HR and legal teams to ensure cohesive strategies for managing compliance and addressing potential violations.

Promoting Diversity Initiatives: Collaborate with organizational leaders to develop initiatives aimed at enhancing workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion. Lead efforts to create a more diverse candidate pool through outreach and recruitment strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in EEO coordination, diversity and inclusion, or HR compliance.
  • Certification in EEO compliance (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is preferred.

REQUIRED LICENSE(S).

A valid State of Michigan Driver's License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is usually performed in an office setting but may require the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan.
