The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a PRNPatient Care Technician. Under direct supervision, assists the members of the nursing team in provision of multiple types of patient care in our out-patient care area, Urology Clinic. Their work requires familiarity with a wide variety of nursing procedures used in delivering patient care. Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment. The Urology clinic provides medical and surgical care for male and female patients, and selected services for pediatric patients to managing complex medical conditions and chronic disorders. Position Responsibilities: 1. Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. 2. Front desk check in and check out. 3. Carries out tasks including but not limited to phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, & Foley catheter removal and cares for patients who are medically isolated. 4. Assists with patient admission, transfers, and discharges. 5. Directly provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort. 6. Turns, positions and ambulates patients. 7. Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies. 8. Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions. 9. Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies, and for neatness and cleanliness of unit. 10. May assemble and maintain equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse. 11. Cleans areas per designated guidelines and standards demonstrating proper use of approved disinfectants, cleaning products, and care of the housekeeping equipment 12. Stock and supply clinic. Schedule:Variable hours Monday - Friday 7:40am - 5:30pm; no weekends, no nights, no holidays (minimum of 20 hours per month required) Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability to read, write and follow instruction
Special Qualification:
- Current valid driver's license and ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standard.
- Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours
