The mission of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at UNT Dallas is to recruit, admit and enroll an academically prepared student body reflective of the state of Texas who are the best fit for UNT Dallas.

Position Overview

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions, at the University of North Texas at Dallas, is seeking to hire a Director of Prospective and New Student Experience. Under the direction and collaborative support of the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director is responsible for developing and implementing a best-in-class visit and event experience for prospective students, which carries seamlessly into a comprehensive orientation and onboarding program that supports students as they transition to UNT Dallas.

The Director of Prospective and New Student Experience works collaboratively with stakeholders across campus to ensure a high level of student engagement and customer service from inquiry to admissions, and to strategically design and implement comprehensive onboarding processes and transition programs for new students and family members. This includes managing programs like campus visits, preview days, information sessions, student tour guide programs, new student orientation and transition events, as well as our Student Solutions Center (One Stop Shop).

The Director is responsible for creating and providing inclusive administrative and managerial
leadership, directing a team, setting priorities, developing procedures, establishing effective work structures and facilitating change to achieve the University's admission and enrollment goals, including ongoing process improvement and related technology advancements.

As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions senior leadership team within the Enrollment
Management and Student Affairs Division, this individual will collaborate to link these programs with the overall recruitment and retention efforts of the University of North Texas at Dallas.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and seven years' of closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

o Substantial knowledge of recruitment and admission practices within a higher education setting.
o Substantial knowledge and experience working with students of different backgrounds.
o Ability to research, gather data, compile information, and accurately prepare reports.
o Ability to supervise, train, and plan work of subordinates.
o Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
o Ability to plan, conceptualize, and make sound business decisions.
o Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment.
o Strong problem solving and quick decision-making skills.
o Strong adaptability to changing needs, schedules, weather, and unscheduled visits; ability to pivot and work when crisis occur in events; ability to effectively execute risk management
strategies.
o The capacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments in order to assist student veterans in navigating challenges and finding solutions, whether related to academics, finances, benefits or other needs.
o Experience with enrollment management, including developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising recruitment plans and communication plans in collaboration with Undergraduate Admissions leadership.
o Marketing and public relations skills with an advanced understanding of the role of outreach in reaching enrollment goals.
o Demonstrated experience with ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and university regulations and policies as they relate to admissions, orientation, and enrollment.
o Exceptional communication skills, including effective writing, public speaking and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
o Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
o Preference will be given to candidates with specific experience and thorough working knowledge of enrollment management departments and accompanying policies, practices, and procedures.
o Seven or more years of experience planning, coordinating, and executing medium to large scale events for freshman and transfer students in higher education.
o Knowledge of student development theories, including social change theory.
o Knowledge of and familiar with current trends and best practices in campus visitation programming, enrollment management, student support services and retention with a particular focus on undergraduate students.
o Experience in coordination and supervision of employees.
o Familiarity with social media and web applications for outreach, productivity and other projects to enhance student engagement.
o Experience implementing or working with virtual tour platforms.
o Experience with Salesforce or another CRM as well as a tour scheduling program.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:



  • Liaison between the Student Solutions Center and each home office within the SSC to monitor service level agreements for services provided, leveraging data, trend analysis, and service-platform data (CRM, service queue, and phone system) to design innovative approaches to managing peak and non-peak services and support.
  • Designs, plans, implements, and oversees the delivery of new student orientation services and transition programs for new undergrad students and their families that are developmentally appropriate, holistic, and developed in close collaboration with various university stakeholders.
  • Directly supervises the Coordinator of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs. Indirectly supervises and provides direction to UNTD Orientation Leader Team.
  • Oversees the Welcome Center including the daily operations and activities of the staff in campus visits, guided tours, and all facets of on-campus recruiting activities, special events and programs for prospective students and their families.
  • Directly supervises the Coordinator of Campus Visitation Programs and the Blue Blazer Ambassador tour guide team.
  • Provides oversight in the development and implementation of assessments, evaluations and research activities related to visitation and perspective student programming. Analyzes visitor satisfaction survey responses and programming trends to continually enhance and strengthen the visitor experience at the University of North Texas at Dallas.
  • Participates in the development, revision and distribution of marketing and informational publications and materials related to campus visitation and prospective student programs. Facilitates the development of communication plans and marketing initiatives for prospective students using technical software (CRM), social media and other platforms.
  • Assists in the development, execution and assessment of office policies, procedures and data processing systems within Undergraduate Admissions.
