As our Senior UX/UI Designer, you will play a pivotal role in driving and executing the overall UX/UI vision and strategy for 90NORTH. You will lead the end-to-end design process, guiding both strategy and tactical implementation to create innovative, user-centered digital experiences that align with client business objectives and strategic goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and champion UX/UI strategy across projects, ensuring a cohesive and scalable design system that supports business objectives and user needs.
  • Collaborate with executive and cross-functional leadership to shape product vision and roadmap priorities from a design perspective.
  • Advocate for user-centered design at all stages, incorporating research, best practices, and data-driven insights into actionable design strategies.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers and other team members, fostering a culture of design excellence, critical thinking, and continuous learning.

Design Execution & Tactics

  • Lead the full UX/UI design process - from discovery, user research, journey mapping, and wireframing to high-fidelity visual design and prototyping.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling interfaces.
  • Develop design systems, pattern libraries, and documentation to ensure consistency and scalability across digital products.
  • Rapidly iterate and refine designs based on stakeholder feedback, usability testing, and evolving project needs.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Strategy, Art, Copy, Editorial, Account, Project Management, and Technology teams to ensure seamless integration of design across all touchpoints.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions to align stakeholders and gather diverse perspectives.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale and decisions to clients and internal teams, balancing user needs with business goals and technical constraints.
  • Guide the integration of branding, campaign messaging, and UX architecture to deliver cohesive and impactful digital solutions.

Operational Excellence

  • Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail and an organized approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure all design deliverables meet regulatory, medical, legal, and brand guidelines within the pharmaceutical and life sciences space.
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and identify opportunities to enhance team workflows and communication.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years' Experience: designing applications, interactive touchscreen experiences and websites.
  • Related Roles: UX Information Architect, UX Strategist, Technical Writer, Content Strategist, UI/ Developer, HCI, Visual Communications, UI/ Graphic Design, or related field preferred.
  • Agency, healthcare, and interactive design experience a plus.
  • Experience working within regulated industries, particularly in pharma, is highly preferred. Candidates should be familiar with legal, medical, and regulatory (LMR) review processes and demonstrate sensitivity to compliance in UX design decisions.
  • Proven experience leading UX/UI design strategy and execution for complex digital products, ideally within highly regulated or healthcare-related industries.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in interaction design, visual design, and design systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to confidently articulate design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability best practices, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience mentoring and leading design teams; passionate about developing others.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adapting to client feedback and evolving business priorities.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree (preferred).

Areas of Concentration: Marketing, advertising, computer science, human- computer interaction, human factors, psychology, anthropology, graphic design, or related discipline

UX professional certification (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Software Level: Expert

  • Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch
  • Secondary: OmniGraffle, Axure
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

User Experience Level: Proficient

  • UX processes, principles, trends, and UX architecture deliverables.
  • WCAG 2.1 AA Guidelines and the importance of ensuring website accessibility compliance and flagging areas of non-compliance.

UX Skills Level: Expert

  • Create and edit UX deliverables: wires, sitemaps, function specifications using Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch.
  • Leads sitemap Co-ops
  • Authority on all UX best practices and can reference the research to support all claims.
  • Collaborate with Copy to ensure good digital practices.
  • Creates work aligned with the brief.
  • Demonstrates the ability to move beyond research and discovery into actionable, strategic solution design. Connects user insights with business needs to produce purposeful wireframes, flows, and architectures grounded in measurable goals.

Ability Level: Proficient

  • Work collaboratively with Account, Strategy, Copy, Art, and Product Design partners.
  • Supervise and mentor Jr. UX on site maps and wireframes and advise on file set up best practices.
  • Act as a primary UX point-of-contact on a project.
  • Attend kickoffs and any scoping meetings. Provide feedback on Pre-Briefs, Briefs, Scopes, Timelines, Hours, Staffing - escalate when needed. Manage and resolve issues.
  • Raise concerns about deadline issues and unreasonable requests to supervisor and/or the IP depending on circumstances.

Salary:

$90,000 - $120,000 annually.
