DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Statistician 1, you will work with birth, death, and Healthy People data for the Division of Health Informatics. You will be responsible for assisting with the creation of the state, county, and municipality level datasets for use in the department's web-based data dissemination systems. Work involves tracking state and county progress, collecting and accessing current and historical statewide and local data from various department sources, calculating health statistics, and creating final output in electronic files for publishing findings on the web. You will have the opportunity to perform computations and analyses of data using statistical formulas including methods such as cross-tabulations, adjusted rates, significance testing, synthetic estimates, standard errors, time series, frequency distributions, and confidence intervals using SAS software, calculator, and spreadsheet software on PC.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree that includes or is supplemented by 15 college credits in statistics or courses emphasizing the application of statistical methods; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
