Overview

In this role you will have expanding responsibility of a graduate engineer including responsibility for assigned project designs, coordination, and associated construction administration. Your responsibilities also include overseeing the work performed by staff assigned to projects, and the electrical project budget/time management.

Your responsibilities will include:

    Understand Project Requirements:
    Work with senior engineers to understand client needs, facility standards, and building codes (e.g., IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA).

  • Design Support:
    Help define and document the design approach (basis of design) for mechanical and plumbing systems.

  • Cost & Value Analysis:
    Collaborate with the owner and project team to ensure systems are cost-effective and explore value engineering options when needed.

  • Technical Software Skills:
    Use BIM and AutoCAD to incorporate designs into project models and drawings.

  • Energy & Load Calculations:
    Understand insulation requirements, assist with energy code compliance, and begin performing heating/cooling load calculations.

  • Equipment & System Design (Learning/Supporting):

    • Select and schedule mechanical equipment

    • Design air distribution systems

    • Assist with chilled/condenser water systems and steam/condensate systems

    • Develop control drawings and diagrams

  • Construction Documents:
    Create accurate and complete construction documents, including floor plans, details, schedules, and control drawings.

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Accredited engineering degree
  • 3 to 5 years experience
  • Revit Experience
  • Passed the EIT/FE exam, preferred
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Preparing to become a licensed PE

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
