The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

A. BASIC PURPOSE
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of The Salvation Army Kroc Center's facilities and grounds. The Maintenance technician supports the overall mission of The Salvation Army Kroc Center by maintaining a clean, functional, and welcoming environment for all staff, visitors, and program participants.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Daily monitor of all building facilities including swimming pools, athletic facilities, gymnasium, Chapel, parking lots, and landscaped areas.
2. Daily check all electrical, security, communication, and ventilation systems for The Salvation Army Kroc Center buildings.
3. Identify and implement any needed repairs or special projects to plumbing, electrical, windows, or structures.
4. Repair, patch, and paint walls as needed.
5. Submit/complete work orders as necessary.
6. Assist with fire alarm system, chemical spills, and/or hazardous materials management.
7. Support event setups and break downs as needed.
8. Report and document incidents to include photographs and a written account of the incident to the Building Maintenance Manager.
9. Maintain timely and accurate record keeping, including the areas of repair logs, accounting of expenditures, and other reporting as required.
10. Meet regularly with the Building Maintenance Manager to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment.
11. Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles and motor-driven equipment.
12. Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, guests, and members of The Salvation Army Kroc Center.
13. Develop and maintain staff relationships by working cooperatively with The Salvation Army Kroc Center's Management Team and Divisional staff.
14. Interact professionally with individuals and groups having diverse backgrounds.
15. Possess a high level of integrity and willingness to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

1. Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, including HVAC systems and VAV fan units. Familiarity with chilled water AC systems preferred.

2. Preferred 1 year of experience in electrical systems (120v-277v), three phase motors, and wiring.
3. Ability to read blueprints and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures.
4. Proficiency in lighting system maintenance, including bulb and ballast replacements.
5. Possess a working knowledge of pool chemistry and upkeep swimming pool filtration
systems.
6. Have working knowledge of sewer, plumbing, water, condensers, dehumidifiers, and kitchen
equipment preferred.
7. Landscape knowledge desired, such as irrigation controls, valve replacements, and equipment
upkeep.
8. Skilled in patching and painting walls. Experience with stucco is advantageous.
9. Service-oriented team player with excellent organizational skills.
10. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
11. Maintain a non-judgmental approach while working with customers, clients, and/or members
of staff.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
2. Must be 21 years or older.
3. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
4. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
5. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
3. Ability to reach overhead.
4. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
5. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal informationQualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
