Job Description

Position Summary:

Selected candidates for a Level Two Thermal Spray Operator position, building on the level 1 requirements, level 2 Thermal Spray Operators will setup, program, and operate multi-axis robots and HVOF coating system. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates must have the ability and desire to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment, be resourceful and innovative along with presenting a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and a good communicator with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive work instructions for the job and ensure that the parts have been properly masked. In some cases, masking, blasting or blending may be required.
  • Pull tooling and materials required for thermal spray application.
  • Perform the setup of equipment, tooling and materials for each project with minimal supervision.
  • Set the parameters and pressures to operate the thermal spray equipment. Enter basic instructions to the robotic equipment and performs limited applications.
  • Apply thermal spray coating to the full range of jobs/part, including domes and valves, and ensure the quality of each job.
  • Complete the work instruction sheet to record the work performed and to verify the part quantities.
  • Assist with other duties as directed by the department supervisor.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout department and work facility
  • Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material.
  • Actively promote safety process and report any safety issues to proper channels for action.
  • Will require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during certain tasks (goggles, safety glasses, aprons, boots, gloves, hearing protection, etc) and be expected to comply with safety directives and policy.
  • Position also includes the performance of various duties related to collection and/or storage of Hazardous Waste
    • Use of the type of PPE required for the particular work task(s).
    • Proper disposal of used PPE to work center containers.
    • Proper transfer of work center containers to the correct Hazardous Waste Storage location.
    • Proper work practice and labeling for Waste Collection and Waste Containers.
    • Familiarity with facility emergency procedures and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan

Required Skills:

  • Self-motivated and ability to work well with others.
  • Experience with Fanuc robotics programming.
  • Use micrometers and calipers and any other measuring devices.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in thermal spray techniques.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.

Level of Education:

  • General Standard education including the ability to read and write in English.
