 Under the direction of the Transplant Financial Manager, the Transplant Financial Referral Coordinator provides essential administrative support to the Transplant Financial Referral Program. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and processing patient referrals, pre-registering new and returning patients in the UCLA Patient Encountering and Registration System, and managing incoming inquiries through the Information and Referral Service lines. Key responsibilities include: 
  
 
 Collecting and verifying accurate patient demographic and insurance information 
 Coordinating prior authorization requirements and performing timely follow-up 
 Providing general information and guidance to patients and callers regarding the referral intake process 
 Processing managed care authorizations 
 Maintaining daily and weekly records of internal and incoming transplant referrals 
 Performing administrative tasks such as typing, faxing, and documentation management Salary Range:
  $30.36- $43.49/hourly Qualifications
 Required:
  
    Previous experience in a health care settingworking with health care professionals and patients
Skill in prioritizing assignments to completework in a timely and accurate manner when there are changes in assignment,
 pressures of deadlines, completing requirements and heavy workload
Ability to work independentlyAbility to communicate with patients, referringphysicians, transplant team members, insurance companies case managers,
 governmental agencies, hospital staff, and other groups in a professional,
 diplomatic manner over the telephone and in person
Ability to abstract medical informationaccurately from patient file
Demonstrated skill in operating a PC and laserprinter to quickly and accurately prepare type and distribute forms,
 correspondence, and schedules
Demonstrated skill in routine data entryDemonstrated skill in operating copy machine,and other standard office equipment
Ability to work with and maintain confidentialpatient information
Ability to establish and maintain cooperativeand collaborative working relationship with administrative, clinical and
 academic personnel

Oral and written communication skills to conveyinformation clearly to patients, faculty and staff

 compassionate manner whether by phone or in person
Typing skill sufficient to input verbal orwritten data into CRT with accuracy and speed
Knowledge of third party insurances, governmentprograms and other insurance agencies for purposes of obtaining any necessary
 authorizations for treatment
Experience working in a medical settingKnowledge and skills to apply appropriatebusiness telephone etiquette on multi-line phones
Ability to maintain confidentiality on patientand physician issues
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills,customer service skills, time management and organizational skills
Preferred: 
    Experience with UCLA EHR (CareConnect)English/Spanish bilingual oral communicationskills to conduct registration interviews
Knowledge of medical terminology to communicateeffectively with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care
 community
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel andAccess
Knowledge of UCLA Medical Center policy andprocedures
Working knowledge of patient-related policiesand procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of the University system
Ability to research medical diagnosis andprocedure codes in CPT Code book and ICD-9 Code book
Recent patient registration and appointmentscheduling experience
