Senior Power Design Engineer

Moog Broad Reachproduces spaceflight hardware and software solutions, integrating vehicle design, component design and engineering services for aerospace, scientific, commercial and military customers on four continents. From proposal phase to ground testing, launch and on-orbit operations, we support each mission as scientific, technical and operational facilitators. On the product side, our radiation-hardened avionics and electronics include GPS/GNSS receivers, science payloads, motor controllers, high-quality flight-critical components, and single board computers powered by the next-generation BRE440 "system-on-a-chip" - the world's highest-performance radiation-hardened microprocessor.

The Senior Power Design Engineerwill perform electrical design tasks related to DC/DC Convert design, Solar Array Controller/Battery chargers, Motor Controllers, and current controlled load switches. Design effort includes Schematic Capture, PCB layouts, part selection, part procurement interface, worst case analysis, derating analysis, device test plans, documents describing product operation and support of product testing. Key to being successful is good written and verbal communications with customers, procurement teams, and test engineering teams. Candidate should have a good working knowledge of electronic design tools, radiation requirements in space environments, part screening requirements, and experience with worst case analysis techniques for analog and digital interfaces.

Technical requirements:

  • Knowledge of DC/DC Converter topologies and design techniques
  • Experience with Space Grade Parts and requirements for space applications
  • Analog circuitry design techniques
  • Worst Case Analysis techniques
  • Understanding of derating requirements
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be self-motivated to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge of PCB construction and layout techniques
  • Knowledge of Space rated Point of Load Regulators and layout requirements associated with them
  • High Speed Digital layout requirements are also a bonus

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

B.S in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of work experience in electronics or similar work experience

Salary Range Transparency:

Phoenix, AZ $110,000.00-$145,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
