THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will exercise your professional judgement to determine best work practices and procedures for accomplishing assigned tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings. Assignments will involve the use of a variety of hand and power tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, saws, levels, trowels, hoes, rakes, and more. You will be responsible for maintaining and installing plumbing fixtures, painting and repairing damaged walls and surfaces, assisting with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system maintenance, and performing electrical work. Additional routine duties will entail snow and ice removal, coordinating elevator inspection contracts and pest control contracts, monitoring the work performed by lawn maintenance contractors, and ensuring that buildings are locked and unlocked in accordance with operational schedules.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work schedule is subject to change due to weather, seasonally, and/or due to operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
