Job Description

Ongoing faculty development is a requirement to improve teaching and learning, foster curricular innovation and change, enhance retention and job satisfaction of faculty, and to maintain the vitality of academic dentistry. The individual hired for this position will:

  • Plan, implementation, evaluate, and document outcomes for SOD faculty annual in service, retreats, course director workshops, and Lunch Time Learning programs.
  • Establish, implement, and evaluate educational methodology training for new faculty.
  • Provide academic support and mentoring for new faculty. Mentor faculty in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new digital opportunities for classroom engagement and instruction.
  • Develop a new course and serve as course director for the SOD Predoctoral Graduation Portfolio process. Collect and analyze outcomes data for CODA.
  • Develop clinical calibration tracking protocols and establish a mechanism for tracking da
  • ta.
  • Work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to ensure compliance with the specialized accreditation agency. This will include understanding CODA guidelines, preparing CODA applications, collecting and analyzing data, and submitting CODA reports.
  • Develop, implement, and use data to evaluate educational initiatives and curriculum within the Dean's office such as the STAHR Scholars Dentistry program.
  • Assist the Curriculum Committee with course assessment and following up with faculty to ensure that committee recommendations are properly implemented.
  • Chair the Faculty Development Committee and oversee Faculty Development Fund budget and funding requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in post-secondary education-type field, educational technology or related area
  • At least 5 years teaching experience in higher education in an oral health related professional program(s).
  • Experience with data collection, data management, and data evaluation.
  • Experience developing continuing education courses that award CE.
  • Experience drafting applications and reports with accrediting bodies such as CODA.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $81,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education.
