ABOUT OUR ENGINEERING SCIENCES TEAM

As part of our expanding Global Engineering and Scientific consulting team, you will work at the forefront of today's most complex engineering challenges. You will be engaged in analyzing failures of a myriad of products from a variety of industries, but with a heavy focus on large industrial facilities like power plants, Oil & Gas facilities, chemical processing plants, construction and Railway Operations. Outside of that work, you will be engaged in automotive, consumer products, consumer electronics and medical devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Exceptional analytical skills, problem solving, communication skills, and creativity are the foundation for successful professionals at Secretariat.

  • Conducting hands-on failure analysis investigations or accident reconstruction
  • Planning and executing laboratory tests
  • Conducting field inspections
  • Communicate with clients, and counsel
  • Assist with the preparation of critique reports examining the conclusions of other experts
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports
  • Develop positive relationships with colleagues, peers and clients
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, trials and mediations
  • Manage the day-to-day requirements of multiple engagements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requisite professional designations and work experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Or related field along with 15+ years experience with Railway Investigations
  • Claims litigation management expertise relative to the rail industry
  • Experience with railroad safety operations and locomotive operation
  • Experience with derailment investigations and response activities
  • Experience with Class 1 railroad Mechanical operations including safety and quality controls
  • Experience with metallurgical and mechanical performance and analyses of rail-specific structures
  • Experience with rail-specific statistical analyses
  • Experience with managing work crew as well as performing track inspections and safety audits
  • Specific experience with railroad accident investigations, train operations.
  • Computational analyses of rail-specific issues is a plus
  • Experience working in teams, case management, client relationships, project support, and preparing and communicating technical information effectively.
  • Strong expert report writing skills to complement analytics
  • Able to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations and develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems
  • The ability to manage and prioritize your time and your team's time, potentially against a backdrop of competing deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills
  • The desire to lead, auxiliary tasks associated with a growing practice within a rapidly growing firm
  • The ability to travel as-needed
