This role serves as a strategic finance partner to the Networked Solutions Research & Development (R&D) team, providing leadership and operational support to drive innovation and value creation. It is responsible for accurate financial reporting and analysis of actuals, budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans. This role owns the Global R&D allocation model to ensure accurate cost attribution and financial reporting. The role will also partner with the Project Management Office (PMO) to support fiscally minded resource allocations. It offers broad cross-functional exposure and regular engagement with senior R&D and corporate leaders. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial analysis for global R&D spend, highlighting key variances and providing recommendations to support timely corrective actions. Contribute to the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for R&D, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with innovation priorities. Drive continuous improvement of budgeting and forecasting processes for R&D functions, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and cross-functional alignment. Analyze R&D investment profiles, focusing on project-level spending, portfolio health, and financial impact of new product development and innovation pipelines. Maintain and refine complex financial models to support executive-level R&D investment decisions, scenario planning, and strategic prioritization. Collaborate with global R&D leaders, engineering teams, and the PMO to incorporate project updates and resource changes into financial plans and forecasts. Partner with R&D operating expense owners to support accurate forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis tied to key strategic initiatives. Play a key role in enabling data-driven decisions by translating complex R&D and innovation data into clear financial insights and strategic guidance. Manage ad hoc reporting needs, validate inputs, troubleshoot data issues, and uphold financial accuracy and integrity across R&D-related reporting. Support and lead ad hoc strategic or operational initiatives related to R&D transformation, investment governance, and resource planning.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in FP&A or a strategic finance role. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, as well as proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI (preferred). Advanced working knowledge of Oracle Cloud EPM planning or similar cube-based reporting platform is required. Expertise in creating and managing complex financial models to drive profound insight into specific performance areas and identify potential optimization change initiatives. Excellent communication skills with all levels of a corporate ladder and the ability to contest the status quo and be a change agent. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of organizational skills. Ability to drive progress forward in a hybrid work environment (virtual/in-office).
Education:Bachelor's degree in finance or other business-related discipline; PMP and/or MBA a plus.
