Job Description:

Microchip has an opportunity for a Technician III-Environmental Health and Safety (Safety and Health Technician III) in the Environmental, Health and Safety department at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This position will support a wide range of safety and compliance activities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role requires flexibility, teamwork, and strong organizational skills.

Essential Functions

  • Review and improve safety programs, process work permits, and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Inspect and maintain safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, ladders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

  • Maintain and restock Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) supplies and calibrate equipment.

  • Participate in ERT and MERT, conduct incident investigations, analyze trends, and implement corrective actions.

  • Deliver Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) briefings, lead evacuation tours, and participate in safety committees.

  • Stock spill stations and first aid kits, support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) cart management, and maintain effective relationships with staff and contractors.

  • Flexibility for occasional modified shifts to support 24/7 operations.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Safety, Science, Health, Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years' experience with safety-related responsibilities in manufacturing or industry.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA, GHS, and related regulations.

  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior ERT or MERT participation.

  • Experience delivering safety training and conducting audits.

  • Experience with incident investigation and corrective actions.

  • Certifications such as OSHA 10 hour or OSHA 30-hour.

Critical Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs; carry 50 lbs; sit 30%; stand 30%; walk 40%; must be able to perform activities that include stooping, reaching, handling, thinking, hearing, talking, seeing, work alone, work around others.

  • Must be able to pass a Physical and Respirator Fit Test

  • Must maintain physical requirements for wearing SCBA full face mask level

  • Must be able to work at heights (cat walks, ladders, roof, tanks...)

This is a Safety Sensitive position.
