Position Summary

UC Davis Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist to join our team as an OB/GYN Hospitalist. The OB/GYN Hospitalist provides dedicated, in-house obstetric and gynecologic coverage, ensuring immediate physician availability for laboring patients, obstetric emergencies, and unassigned gynecologic consultations. This role supports patient safety, improves continuity of care, and works collaboratively with community OB/GYN providers, residents, and the broader care team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house coverage for Labor & Delivery, triage, and emergency obstetric/gynecologic consultations
  • Manage unassigned and walk-in obstetric patients presenting for care
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies, including operative deliveries and emergent cesarean sections
  • Collaborate with community physicians to co-manage patients and ensure smooth handoffs
  • Supervise and teach residents and medical students as part of an academic medical center
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety committees, and departmental meetings
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Participate in a structured shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG)
  • Current, unrestricted California medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Current DEA registration
  • Experience in high-acuity obstetric and gynecologic emergency management preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary academic environment
