Clearance Requirement: Eligibility for NASA Public Trust
We are seeking a results-driven Information Technology Operations Supervisor to oversee daily IT activities and system operations supporting NASA's Research and Education Support Services (NRESS) contract. This position is responsible for supervising IT staff, managing software development and testing cycles, and ensuring the delivery, availability, and sustainability of the contract's application and infrastructure components. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, operational leadership experience, and a collaborative approach to supporting mission-critical systems in a federal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, allocate, and supervise the daily work of the IT team, including system administrators, developers, testers, and network/security staff.
- Ensure the operational performance, availability, and maintainability of all systems supporting peer review, solicitation, data management, and internal contract functions.
- Oversee configuration management, system administration, patching, and performance monitoring across hardware, software, network, and security components.
- Manage ongoing software development and quality assurance efforts, including system enhancements, testing, deployment, and version control.
- Review software test results, identify deficiencies, and recommend/implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with senior IT leadership to align operations with project timelines, user requirements, and agency security policies.
- Monitor system and application lifecycle processes to ensure sustainability, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide mentorship and support to IT staff, cultivating a responsive and solutions-oriented team environment.
- Serve as a liaison between IT teams and internal or government stakeholders on matters of system status, issue resolution, and release planning.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role overseeing software development and system support.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams supporting enterprise applications, networks, and system security.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), configuration management, and testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools, ticketing platforms, and incident response protocols.
- Ability to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as ITIL, PMP, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft/AWS certifications.
- Experience supporting federal systems, especially research platforms like NSPIRES.
- Familiarity with NASA's IT and cybersecurity policies, or experience in government research environments.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and agile system delivery models.
