Responsibilities

The Nottingham Investment Services intern will join our Operations team and play a vital role in supporting the department's daily client support activities. This entry-level position will provide valuable hands-on experience and an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of broker/dealer functions. As a NIS intern, you will be involved in various aspects of broker/dealer operations, assisting with LPL account opening, processing of customer requests and regulatory paperwork, customer transfers, and client meetings and communication campaigns. This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded and immersive experience, allowing you to develop a comprehensive understanding of investment services practices and contribute to the success of our Nottingham Direct and Operations teams.

  • Support the Nottingham Direct and Operations team with various projects and tasks: Transitions resulting from rep realignments, contacting customers for review meetings, preparation of account data and reports, etc.
  • Participate in the Nottingham Direct team sales meetings, customer and prospect calls as appropriate.
  • Assist in account maintenance for the NISI clients and Operations team.
  • Supports the NISI Central Operations, Nottingham Direct, and OneGroup Retirement Advisors team with activities related to the various account opening and maintenance functions, such as preparing account opening documents, account transfers, account updates, move money request, producing client reports in preparation of client review meetings.
  • Work with the Nottingham Direct, OneGroup Retirement Advisors team, Operations staff and shadow them.
  • Supports the full NISI team with ad hoc requests or projects as needed
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all job-specific training requirements in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Requirements:

  • Driven college student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with employees at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain high ethical standards. Knowledge of labor laws and regulations is preferred but not required.

Experience:

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Financial and Investment services, demonstrated through coursework, previous related course experience, or relevant financial services related activities.

Hours: 40 hours/week

Compensation: Commensurate with experience plus potential for annual merit increase.
