Job Summary

The Records and Policy Analyst ("the Analyst") will join the UCSF office with responsibility for UCSF's compliance with governmental requirements under the California Public Records Act (CPRA), California Information Practices Act (IPA), California Labor Code, the federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and the various state, federal, and local statutes involving subpoenas, as well as having responsibility for Campus Administrative Policies and records management.

The Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that include updating databases to track project status, reviewing and redacting documents, analyzing situations or data that will require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors where the Analyst will need to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The Analyst will also be responsible e for regularly updating, developing, and maintaining web content relating to the unit's responsibilities.

The Analyst will be highly organized and attentive to detail. The Analyst will also have demonstrated experience with project management, data management and analysis, using advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues, developing and implementing process improvements, and have the ability to meet deliverables and deadlines.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $102,400 - $156,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Program in Interprofessional Practice and Education (PIPE) is responsible for promoting and developing interprofessional learning opportunities for learners in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy. In addition, the PIPE program promotes interprofessional practice at UCSF and its affiliated clinical partners. PIPE provides interprofessional competencies, guidance and oversight for interprofessional learning experiences for health professions students in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy, and the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy and fosters faculty and staff to lead, teach and develop interprofessional practice and education. PIPE fosters research in interprofessional education and collaborative practice and identifies and assists with grant submissions to grow the evidence base for interprofessional practice and education. PIPE operates within the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost (EVCP) organization which is the central administrative organization for UCSF academic and research enterprise functions. The EVCP organization supports diverse interests and campus constituencies including faculty, students, and staff, as well as the community at large.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 3 years of directly related California Public Records Act (CPRA) request case management and response experience (in addition to degree)
  • Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques
  • Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience responding to CPRA requests at a University of California campus or location
