Aon Is Looking for a Director of Travel Insurance Program Development

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Director of Travel Insurance Program Development with a flexible (Remote/Hybrid) schedule. This position will support Aon's Travel practice group within Aon Affinity.

What the day will look like:

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with insurance carriers to co-create differentiated travel protection products.
  • Negotiate and structure agreements with carriers to support travel insurance programs for the largest travel suppliers in the market, optimizing program performance, guest experience, and financial dynamics.
  • Align carrier partnerships with long-term business strategy, brand standards, and digital integration goals.
  • Lead the end-to-end development of co-branded travel insurance products designed to meet the evolving needs of travelers and partners.
  • Use customer insights, partner feedback, and competitive benchmarking to design high-conversion product offerings.
  • Partner with internal teams on marketing, implementation, and performance tracking to ensure successful launches and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with carriers on underwriting strategy and contribute underwriting expertise to internal product design and portfolio discussions.
  • Develop and refine underwriting guidelines to balance risk, customer value, and profitability.
  • Leverage data to analyze claims trends and product performance to inform product and underwriting decisions.
  • Underwriting experience is a strong plus.
  • Ensure product and operational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and international insurance regulations.
  • Track emerging regulatory changes and implement process and policy updates accordingly.
  • Oversee compliance reviews, audits, and filings in partnership with legal and compliance teams.

Skills and experience that will lead to success:

  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with demonstrated success in travel insurance, product development, and/or underwriting and compliance roles.
  • Background in managing and scaling co-branded insurance programs in partnership with enterprise clients.
  • Ability to negotiate with carriers to improve program structures, financial terms, and customer experience outcomes.
  • Understanding of regulatory environments, insurance product lifecycles, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting, developing, and growing travel insurance or other embedded insurance or extended service programs (e.g. warranty, ticket protection, etc.).
  • Familiarity with insurance distribution and underwriting.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Pay Transparency Laws

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
