The Support and Sustainment Specialist will participate in the design and development of new products as well as the sustainment of legacy equipment in the field. This is a customer facing-role in which the specialist is part of a cohesive team of CEC and customer technical personnel responsible for communications products specific to the customer's applications.

You will work from and create engineering documentation and verbal instructions, under some supervision with autonomy. Requires travel in the US and internationally. Travel requirement is based on active projects in-house.


Responsibilities

  • Recognizes design problems and errors and takes corrective action
  • Create and modify design documentation including CAD drawings
  • Interfaces effectively with other organizations such as Purchasing, Marketing, Service and Quality Assurance as needed to carry out responsibilities
  • Prepares inspection reports for returned items from the customer
  • Monitors the progress of product inspection, testing and root cause analysis to ensure that technical problems are resolved
  • Coordinates and performs field service assessments
  • Coordinates the creation of service and test procedures and reports
  • Ensures that all documentation is accomplished and in proper form
  • Assists engineering management in developing proposals for new technical programs which will lead to new or improved products
  • Recommend changes or modifications to improve the operation or the quality of electronic or mechanical products and equipment
  • Assists manufacturing and technical personnel with installation of new or modified equipment in-house and at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
  • Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives and inspects malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem
  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer

Qualifications

  • 8 years related experience, Associates degree in related technology or equivalent technical training preferred, or the combination of training and related experience
  • Must be a US citizen due to government contracts
  • Recent active DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be able to travel inside and outside the US as needed
  • Must be proficient writing and speaking English
