Overview

The Design Technician 2 is responsible for assisting experienced designers and project teams in preparing and coordinating project deliverables and assisting less experienced designers as required.


Responsibilities

  • Prepares project drawings.
  • Uses CAD / BIM skills.
  • Coordinates with document control personnel.
  • Uses the electrical engineering web site to access department guides and standards.
  • Utilizes Engineering Document Management System (EDMS) to access all project documents.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience

Formal Education:

  • High School Diploma

This position requires:

  • Hands-on or classes using design/drafting tools, such as CAD / BIM.
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD / BIM software.
  • Familiar with electrical discipline web site and knows how to find department guides and standards.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Effectively operates computer software, including MS Office Suite of products (i.e., databases, spreadsheets, project management software, Outlook, etc.) to prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Skilled in, MS SharePoint, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, AcroPlot Pro and EDMS.

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
