The expected hiring range for this position is: $15.00-$22.50.

About the Role: Under direct supervision of a mentor, the Summer Seasonal Employee positions will conduct and support scientific, engineering, computing, or operational project-based tasks and /or research for a period of four to ten weeks in a formal internship program hosted by the Laboratory. This experiential learning opportunity provides a practical and immersive workplace experience for high school students. Students will collaborate directly with the CMS Outer Tracker and Real-time Machine Learning teams to support module testing and contribute to the development of simple database-related scripts, as well as advancing the demonstration HLS4ML projects currently underway at the Helen Edwards Center.

What your day-to-day as a Summer Seasonal Employee at Fermilab will look like:
- You will conduct, support, and/or assists with research on existing and/or potential new projects as assigned by supervisor/ mentor ensuring deadlines and priorities are met.
- May present poster or paper presentations related to the area of specialty, assignment, or scientific research.
- You will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- You will abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
Skills and Attributes for Success:
- Must be enrolled in an Illinois high school at the time of application. Requisite educational requirements are dependent on the project-based tasks and/or research as determined by the internship manager/ supervisor.
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Possesses and applies the skills required to perform the technical tasks (will vary by assignment).
- Ability to be flexible in the approach to work to meet the needs of the changing projects, teams, and workplace needs.
- Ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of self-motivation, resourcefulness, independent judgement, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.

- Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
